London School of Modelling Graduate in runnings to be Miss Harrogate 2013

A massive congratulations to Olivia Caven who is currently in the runnings to becoming Miss Harrogate 2013!! So far she is in SECOND place and needs all the votes she can get so please support her by texting “MISS HG19” to 64343. Olivia has a wonderful inspiring story. She was born completely deaf and has faced many struggles in her life however Olivia has fought against this and never let it prevent her from making her dreams a reality. READ OLIVIA’S PERSONAL MESSAGE IN HER OWN WORDS: This is Olivia’s Story in her own words: “I got through to the Final of Miss Harrogate!! I need your votes to help me win. It is a texting vote system which will have the details on the page on how to vote!! This is not just my dreams and desires. It's also for the people who are different like me. I was born completely deaf and struggled in my childhood with all the obstacles it gave me. I never let that stop me from fulfilling my dreams! I pushed myself to be like you. As all my friends and family know, my speech is good and improving all the time! Most people never find out until I tell them but I was not always good at hearing, speaking and I had no confidence at all. It was simple things like, talking to a stranger, picking up the house phone, going to a shop on my own and asking for the price of the things I wanted, asking for directions, explaining I was deaf to a stranger. My parents and I worked really hard to make sure I had the same opportunities through life as hearing people do. I worked hard at my speech. As my hearing was deteriorating till it was gone, I had an operation 4 years ago to have a Cochlear Implant. This changed my life and it was then that my speech improved because I heard more sounds then ever before!! It was extremely hard learning sounds all over again but it was the best decision of my life. Since I had my Cochlear Implant my confidence improved at every new obstacle that I overcame! Now I have a chance to show people that if I can overcome my fears and be brave to stand up in front of everyone and achieve MY dream. Then so can you! Never give up, You can achieve your wants and desires with a determined and positive attitude. You've read about why I'm doing this, so please help me to be a role model for others. VOTE FOR ME !! :) xx “ We are so pleased that Olivia was able to gain so much from her 2 day boot camp at London School of Modelling. When Olivia came to us she was quite shy and unsure of herself but after our coaching and advice we literally saw her transform into a confident young lady.

Changing Lives at the London School of Modelling

Morning Everyone,

We had another fantastic Model Boot Camp weekend at the London School of Modelling and discovered some great new models out there.

One in particular who was just an inspiration was 50 year old Amanda (pics on this blog) mum of 5 who holds down 3 jobs to keep her family a float.

Amanda is just an amazing woman- she modelled in the 80s but gave it up for her family and has always wanted to try and get back into it - but has never had the time or courage.

She came to my school for the experience and chance to turn her life around and she was amazing in front of the camera.

here is her Testimonial written in HER OWN WORDS - it was so amazing that i felt the need to blog about it:

"Hi LSM

In all honesty I am a person who has made so many mistakes in life especially career wise. However one of the best things I have ever done is attend the "London School of Modelling " It changed my life beyond belief.

Last year due to circumstances I worked non stop in the lowest paid most boring jobs. It left me demoralised, depressed, with low confidence and self esteem. I didn't even dream any more just got on with things like a robot. I even thought about backing out of " Boot Camp" Thank God I didn't.

At 50 years old surely I was kidding myself ? I had worked in the eightys as a model but that was 30 years ago.

It would be impossible to say how a two day course changed my life but it did.

They have a very carefuly chosen team almost like the "Mafia" I loved Becki the second in command.. Just having your make up done and hair was brill.

I have gone from lowest of the low to model in demand. I got regular work as a promo model which suits me best and my emails are full off people wanting me. What you taught me is to go for it. When I go for a casting I honestly think why has anyone else come cos its my job! When they book me I also think I want you to remember me and want and take me for the next job. You taught me the difference between arrogance and confidence there is a big difference.

London School of Modelling goes back to the '50s!

Anyone remember the 50s?

Well we decided to go back in time and create some stunning 1950s style retro photos at our last London School of Modelling Boot Camp.

Did you know that a 1950s housewife would be expected to greet her husband at the door after he returned from work, then proceed to ask him all about his day without uttering a word about hers, then pass him his newspaper, post and slippers whilst ensuring the home made dinner was on the hob, the children were bathed and fed, the house cleaned, beds made, dog walked and fed AND whilst maintaining an air of beauty and sophistication at all times....not to mention having to entertain her husband in the bedroom later on with full make up on and hair teased to perfection!!

And ladies...we thought we had it hard....!

So our fabulous stylists, make up & hair artists and photographers created these brilliant 1950s inspired photos with a twist.

Hope you like them.....

If you would love the chance to model in a shoot like this then get in touch - we are always looking for new students.

Just go to our website www.londonschoolofmodelling.com to find out more.

lots of love

Debbie x

PS - Find out soon how our shoot with the very funny Alan Carr went for Heat Magazine.
